PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - One of the world's premiere auto auctions is underway in our area.

Barrett-Jackson is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year and its 9th year at the South Florida Fairgrounds.

The auto auctions began Thursday morning and continue until Saturday evening.

Every year, the auction attracts car connoisseurs, amateur motorheads, and celebrities to check out everything that runs on tires, from antiques to supercars.

In addition to the auctions, there are seminars, displays, and vendors.

This year, SPEED will also broadcast more than 23 hours of live, high-definition TV coverage of the auction for fans and car enthusiasts worldwide.

Last year, the Arizona based company recorded more than $20 million dollars in sales and welcomed over 55,000 visitors at its Palm Beach County auction.

Barrett-Jackson says it also raised more than $1.5 million for charity during the 2009 auction.
