PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- The St. Lucie County School District plans to have grief counselors at two schools today after a teacher was stabbed to death by her son at his home, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Alan Farajian, 23, is accused of stabbing and killing his mother Gloria Farajian Wednesday morning in the 1800 block of Len Drive of unincorporated Palm Beach County because of an an argument over a TV show, according to an arrest report.
Gloria was a second grade teacher at White City Elementary School for almost eight years and was teaching art at Parkway Elementary School this year. The school district will have counselors at both schools.
According to detectives, Farajian admitted to cutting Gloria's throat from behind, and stabbing her in the throat and chest. Detectives also said Farajian stated he knew stabbing his mother was wrong, but he would do it again.
"The suspect showed no remorse and spoke of acts of the devil," the arrest report states.
Farajian originally told investigators that his mother had poisoned him, and later told deputies that she was "God fearing" and he was the devil, the sheriff's office said.
Detectives said Farajian stated he has been treated for psychological issues and suffers from a bipolar condition and schizophrenia, and had received medication at some point.
The murder weapon, which was left in the living room sofa, was a kitchen steak knife, the report states.
After cleaning up and changing clothing, Farajian told detectives he fled the scene in his mother's car. According to the report, he admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
"I know his mother always visited him she seemed to be here every week. I mean, I've never met her but it was kind of crazy to see that actually happened on my street next to me while I was sleeping," said neighbor Jack Doran.
Farajian, of Jupiter, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail around 4:24 a.m. Wednesday and is charged with second degree murder. He remains behind bars after a judge ruled no bond.
