HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Democratic National Committee Chair and U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz has dismissed a published report that she would consider a run for Florida governor in 2014.
“I’m running for re-election,” Wasserman Schultz told NewsChannel 5 on Saturday. “I am going to work hard to earn my constituents’ support to represent them in the nation’s capital.”
Wasserman Schultz, 45, was at The Westin Diplomat in Hollywood where she addressed a crowd of nearly 1,000 people at the Florida Democratic Party’s annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
“I am completely focused on re-electing Barack Obama and earning the support of my constituents,” she said. “That’s my sole focus.”
Wasserman Schultz, whose Congressional district includes parts of Fort Lauderdale and Miami, was elected to Congress in 2005.
