(CNN) -- Two days before Election Day, the race between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney remains locked in a virtual dead heat nationally, according to a poll released Sunday.

Obama has the support of 48% of likely voters, while Romney has 47% in the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Two weeks ago, the same organizations' poll had the candidates each at 47% support nationally.

The new poll also shows 68% of those surveyed approved of the president's handling of Superstorm Sandy. Only 15% disapproved.

A separate poll released early Sunday morning indicated Obama and Romney were tied at 48%, according to the ABC News/Washington Post survey.

For the survey, 1,475 likely voters were interviewed by telephone from November 1 to November 3. The sampling error is plus or minus 2.55 percentage points.
