Rollcall.com is reporting that Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) is considering running for governor of Florida in 2014.
“I’d say that’s true, that he’s considering it,” Nelson spokesman Dan McLaughlin told Rollcall.com. “An awful lot of people have contacted him and asked him to do so. But — and as he’s said a number of times — he presently doesn’t have any intention of running. He’s got a job to do as a senator.”
In a Quinnipiac University Poll released last month Florida voters said that they would prefer former Gov. Charlie Crist , running as a Democrat, over incumbent Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) 50% - 34%.
According to that poll only 32% said he deserved a second term in office.
Rollcall.com said Democrats consider Scott a top gubernatorial target in 2014.
