WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An accident Sunday morning at the intersection of Australian Avenue and Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach sent a Palm Beach County sheriff deputy to the hospital.

The female deputy was rear-ended and had to be extricated, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

A West Palm Beach Fire Rescue team used the Jaws of Life to remove the deputy from her sheriff's vehicle.

After stabilizing the vehicle, the team removed the doors and the roof of her car with special equipment in order to get her out safely on a back and neck brace.

PBSO said the deputy was transported to the hospital by ambulance as a precautionary measure.

A K-9 deputy was also in the car during the accident and is said to be okay.

YouReporter Denise sent in a photo of the incident.
