PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Dalia Dippolito will soon be sentenced for attempting to hire a hit man to kill her own husband. A jury handed down a guilty verdict Friday afternoon. Dippolito will be going to jail, but for how long is not yet known.

The now 29-year old barely showed emotion as the jury read the verdict inside the Palm Beach County Courthouse. The six member jury did not agree with Dippolito's legal team.

"Dalia Dippolito is now appealing to your better judgment and asking you to let her wake up from this nightmare," said Defense attorney Michael Salnick.

One of the most damning pieces of evidence may have been video recorded on August 5, 2009 outside the Dippolito's Boynton Beach home. Dippolito could be seen and heard crying when she was told by police that her husband was dead. But the crime scene was all staged by police.

Michael Machin of Boynton Beach witnessed Dippolito's emotional display nearly two years ago. He watched as his neighbor shed tears for a husband she thought had been killed.

"There was just news vans and police cars everywhere. I actually saw the arrest happen," said Michin. "As she was approaching, the police officers pulled her to the side and she started fake crying, essentially," he said.

Neighbor Todd Hunter has wondered since that August day about Dippolito's story. "If you have any common sense and you followed it, you can come to your conclusion. It was pretty obvious," said Hunter.

Dippolito could spend up to three decades behind bars for solicitation to commit first-degree murder. She will be held at the Palm Beach County Jail county until her June 16 sentencing.
