YUMA, AZ - Yuma police say three schools are on lockdown after it was reported a student may have a gun.
Students at Rancho Viejo Elementary School, Salida Del Sol Elementary School and WACOG Preschool are being held in their classrooms while authorities investigate.
Yuma police say that just before 10 a.m. officers responded to Rancho Viejo Elementary School about a student possibly with a gun.
Police are now searching and encourage parents and guardians to remain away from the schools until officers have completed the search and lifted the lockdown.
All parents and guardians looking for information about the incident are being told to meet in the cafeteria at H.L. Suverkrup, 1590 S. Avenue C.
The Yuma Police Department is asking anyone with further information about this case to call 928-783-4421 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous
