A pendulum art piece outside of the Padnos Hall of Science at Grand Valley State University has been removed after students started uploading pictures and videos of themselves riding it naked, imitating pop star Miley Cyrus' latest "Wrecking Ball" music video.
University officials say the piece had to be removed over concerns of the students safety.
“We are reassessing the safety and structural integrity of the current installation and site,” Associate Vice President for Facilities Services Tim Thimmesch said on the school's website. “Hopefully the pendulum can be reinstalled at that location or we can find another suitable location on campus so people can enjoy it as a piece of art and stay safe.”
Thimmesch says the pendulum will remain in storage until the school can find another location for it.
