Video has been released showing the panic and turmoil from inside the Washington Monument during last month's 5.8 magnitude earthquake that was felt in Washington D.C.

In the video, you can see tourists scramble down the staircase for safer ground as debris began to fall.

Officials with the National Park Service are still working to determine the extent of the damage to the monument.

The initial cracks in the Washington Monument were filled, but officials believe there may be more.

The monument has been closed since the quake.
