Today Show Aretha Franklin interview: Whitney Houston was on her way to a comeback, Franklin says

Aretha Franklin appeared on the Today Show Friday in an exclusive interview with Today's Al Roker.

The Queen of Soul told Roker how she reacted to the death of her goddaughter Whitney Houston.

She said she was in a hotel room in North Carolina watching TV when she heard the news.

"What?! This cannot be. What is this?," Franklin told Roker that was her first reaction to the news.

She said Houston had "conquered her challenges" and was on her to a comeback.

Franklin will be singing at Houston's funeral and said "it's not going to be easy."
