ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A friend of a Chechen man shot to death in his Orlando apartment by an FBI agent during questioning about a Boston Marathon bombing suspect has been deported from the United States.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman said Thursday that Tatiana Gruzdeva left the United States last week. She was taken into custody when she tried to get an extension of her work visa.
The civil rights group, CAIR, claims she was told she was being deported for talking publicly about her friend, Ibragim Todashev.
Todashev was killed last May while FBI agents questioned him about his friendship with suspected Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Officials originally said the Chechen man lunged at an agent with a knife. They later said it was no longer clear what happened.
