An oil tanker got too close for comfort in San Francisco Bay Monday morning.
The ship hit the base of the Bay Bridge.
It just clipped the protective barrier around the base of one of the towers on the western end of the span.
The Coast Guard said the hull was not breached and no oil leaked from the tanker.
The ship had been headed out to sea, but after the accident returned to its anchorage for inspection.
