Michael Phelps of the United States became the first man to win an individual men's swimming event in three consecutive Olympics, beating teammate Ryan Lochte in the 200-meter individual medley Thursday.
On Saturday, Lochte won the first head-to-head meeting between the two stars, though Phelps didn't even medal in the 400-meter individual medley.
Lochte also swam in the 200-meter backstroke finalĀ a short time before the 200-meter individual medley. He came in third.
