(WMBF) A South Carolina man is being hailed as a hero after his wife's car caught fire in a crowded grocery store parking lot.
"We went in to the grocery store, ended up parking close to the front and went in and stayed in about 5 or 10 minutes," Rodney Stanley said.
Stanley's wife is the owner of the 2008 Pontiac Solstice that burned down to its frame Sunday in the parking lot of the Loris IGA.
Stanley said as he and his wife were driving to the store, they noticed a smell of smoke. Stanley said after he checked under the hood and didn't see any smoke, he figured the smell was coming from the outside.
That is, until they were on their way out of the grocery store.
His wife's car was full of smoke. That's when Stanley sprang into action.
