Seventeen lost pyramids have been discovered in Egypt by infrared satellite images, according to a new report.

BBC News reports that over 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also uncovered by looking at the images, which show underground buildings.

The work was reportedly pioneered by an Egyptologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
