Diaper shortage: Could recent Japanese Nippon Shokubai chemical plant explosion really mean shortage

A chemical plant explosion in Japan Sunday could mean some stinky news for parents who are using diapers for their children.  

The plant, Nippon Shokubai Co., controlled the largest share of water-absorbent polymers used to create one-fifth of the world’s diapers, The Telegraph reports.

The plant produced 320,000 tons of the polymer, but as a result of the explosion, the operation has come to a halt.

If the plant is inoperable for a substantial amount of time, parents may want to consider creating a diaper stock pile or start potty training, because a diaper shortage is expected.
