A child remains in critical condition at Broward Health Medical Center after a traffic crash in Fort Lauderdale.
At approximately 6:39pm on Friday a crash occurred in the 2300 block of Northwest 16th Street.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that a young child ran from the porch of a residence towards the roadway.
An approaching vehicle saw the child and stopped to avoid striking him.
A 2006 off-terrain dirt bike was also traveling westbound on Northwest 16th Street approaching the stopped vehicle and while attempting to pass it, struck the child.
The driver, Brandon Dennis of Fort Lauderdale, was ejected upon impact.
The child was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Dennis was transported to Plantation General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still underway and charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
