PHOENIX - A woman stuck in a Phoenix tree Thursday afternoon told Phoenix firefighters she was high on drugs and that she would jump if they got too close.
Phoenix firefighters responded to a call of a child stuck in a tree near Peoria and 15th Avenues. They quickly found out, it wasn't a child, but a grown woman.
Maybe she thought she was in trouble, but firefighters thought she was troubled.
"You guys I'm fine. I'm not... I just wanted to climb a tree," the woman said. And climb the tree she did.
She went about 40 feet high before things got really interesting.
"Hey, who is that news guy on Channel 15? The cute one?" she yelled from the tree.
After bringing in her sister and attorney, and after countless pleas, the woman eventually came down from the tree.
"Hey news people, I don't know what I'm being arrested for. Why do they have handcuffs on me?" she yelled.
Rescuers wanted to make sure she wouldn't hurt herself. She told them she was "high on mushrooms."
Police said the woman was taken to the hospital but was not arrested.
