SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Surveillance video near a Springfield, Mass. market shows a mom running from an armed robber while leaving her 4-year-old daughter behind last Friday, Masslive.com reports.

The mom and her child were walking up to the Asian market when the robber approached her and demanded her purse.

The startled mother ran away without her daughter, and the robber grabbed the child.

The girl managed to get away unharmed, so he went after the woman again as she tried to get in the store.

He stabbed the mother in her collar bone area.

The suspect then took off and citizens began to chase him.

The mother is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say they don't fault mom for her reaction.

Detectives are working several leads to track down the robber.
