YouReporters aboard the Narcosis dive boat have sent in photos of what appears to be recent damage done to the reefs right off our coast.

The crew first alerted NewsChannel 5 to the damage on Wednesday, and went back out on Thursday with cameras to get a closer look.

They found the damage along an area known as the South Double Ledges, about two miles south of the Lake Worth Inlet.

They say it appears it could have been done by a freighter that dropped anchor there.

Ships often wait offshore to use the Port of Palm Beach.

They say the damage appears to be about a week old.

Divers have also alerted federal authorities who enforce the protection of our reefs.
