STUART, Fla. - Several YouReporters had their eyes to the sky Monday looking at what appeared to be funnel clouds.
Jodi Haslam, a Loxahatchee resident, says that she was on a road trip when she encountered a brush fire with what looked like two funnel clouds in the Stuart area off of the Florida Turnpike. The clouds were actually what some meteorologists refer to as Fire Funnels or a Fire Whirl .
"With Tropical Storm Bret 200 miles off the coast, we're seen several reports of waterspouts and funnel clouds today. Very unstable air over Florida related to Bret allows waterspouts to form easily over the Gulf Stream," said Storm Team 5 Chief Meteorologist, Steve Weagle.
