WELLINGTON, Fla. - A small plane crashed in Wellington Friday afternoon.
The aircraft went down in the 15 thousand Block of Britten Lane in the Aero Club.
According to registration numbers on the aircraft the plane is a Piper Malibu.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said the pilot was conscious when they arrived. Crews placed a ladder next to the cockpit and were able to extricate the pilot. He was then taken to Trauma Hawk and flown to St. Mary's Medical Center.
Rescuers are concerned he may have internal injuries.
Fuel was spilled and fire rescue applied foam to make sure it didn't ignite.
NewsChannel 5's Captain Julie Stevens said it appeared from the air that the plane dug hard into the grass runway, flipped upside down and came to rest next to a swimming pool.
Fire rescue said the aircraft did not hit a house. There were two people and their dog in the house. They were evacuated as a precaution.
The pilot was the only occupant of the plane.
