— One person is being flown Friday to a local trauma center after Martin County Fire Rescue crews were called to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 76 about a quarter mile west of the State Road 710 bridge, a fire rescue spokesman said.

Crews were called at 11:36 a.m. Friday to the crash site, which is situated in a largely rural area of western Martin County, said Jon Belding, Fire Rescue spokesman. A pickup truck reportedly ended up under a tractor-trailer that is thought to have been hauling sugar cane, he said.

One person in the pickup truck is being flown to a local trauma center. Only one person is thought to have been in the pickup, Belding said.

S.R. 76 was shut down in both directions as officials handle the scene.

No other information was immediately available.
