Unborn baby grabs doctor's finger photo: Alicia, Randy Atkins baby handshake photo goes viral

PEORIA, AZ - The picture’s not fake; in fact, it’s about as real as they come.

On October 9, Alicia Atkins gave birth to her daughter, Nevaeh, via Caesarean section as her husband snapped a rare image: the unborn baby holding the doctor’s fingers.

“I just wanted to make sure I got the picture because it was so cool,” said Randy Atkins, the baby’s father.

Alicia posted the picture on December 26 after she gave a print of the image to Dr. Allan Sawyer, her doctor, as a gift.

“I’ve never captured that picture before,” Dr. Sawyer said. “It’s really rare.”

Alicia has her own photography company, A Classic Pin-Up, in Glendale and said that the image has had thousands of views on Facebook.

“I am in awe of this photo,” she writes on her Facebook page. “Something to remember forever.”
