When Ben & Jerry's announced their new limited edition ice cream flavor, Schweddy Balls, inspired by the infamous "Saturday Night Live" skit with Alec Baldwin, many laughed at the humorous flavor. But not all.
Conservative parental advocacy group One Million Moms is not laughing and is calling people to boycott the "vulgar" flavor.
The group posted on their website: "Ben & Jerry's announced their newest ice cream flavor which sounds anything but appealing. Schweddy Balls is the best they could come up with. The vulgar new flavor has turned something as innocent as ice cream into something repulsive. Not exactly what you want a child asking for at the supermarket."
One Million Moms, a branch of the American Family Association, informed their readers of the SNL skit, in detail, to drive the point home. They also brought up another controversial flavor, "Hubby Hubby," to remind readers that this isn't the first time Ben & Jerry's has come out with a scandalous flavor.
Besides boycotting the flavor, One Million Moms has asked people to write or email Ben & Jerry's Public Relations Manager, Sean Greenwood, to tell the company not to make another batch of the Schweddy Balls flavor.
But according to the company the new flavor is a hit with many consumers.
"It's a great flavor and our fans know it," Greenwood told Fox News.com. " They get it … It's flying off the shelves in a lot of places."
Greenwood also told Fox News that the company has received roughly 500 emails in support of the flavor, and roughly the same amount criticizing the new flavor.
Ben & Jerry's website describes their new flavor as "Fair Trade vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls."
A Schweddy Balls Facebook greeting card is even available to send to "start celebrating the holiday season."
And not all moms found the new flavor offensive.
Sharon Orton posted on the Today Moms Facebook page, "I'm mad that I cannot find it in any stores in my town and I want to eat Schweddy Balls! Oh and I'm a mom."
