Florida resident Stephen Terry beat 125 other entrants in the competition's final round Saturday night.
It was Terry's seventh appearance in the contest.
The event was held at Sloppy Joe's bar, a favorite of the author when he lived in Key West throughout the 1930s.
Sunday was the 114th anniversary of Hemingway's birth.
