HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Robert Souris is flipping for joy.
The reason? The children's entertainer from Hollywood is confident that his third attempt to beat the Guinness world record for the longest forward jump flip will stick.
Souris, 29, has attempted to better the world record on each of the last two July Fourth holidays but has failed, mostly for technical reasons.
On Wednesday, Souris was once again in front of a crowd of children and parents at the Florida Triple Threat All-Stars gymnasium in Davie where he teaches.
"Success!" Souris proclaimed with confidence on Thursday believing that his third attempt was the lucky charm.
His jump was measured at 19-feet, 11.5-inches after he hurled his body off the purple mat, propelled himself forward, flipped mid air and stuck the landing. If official, it would beat the current world record of 19-feet, 7-inches held by Hasit Savani of London.
But it takes more than luck to woo the folks at Guinness.
To earn the coveted Guinness recognition, record seekers are required to document their feats in an application process that includes photos, video, local media coverage clips, notarized witness statements and more.
In 2010, Souris completed a hearty jump but it was bettered before his application was complete. And last year he was unable to submit the photographs necessary to support his claim,
"This year we had it down to a science," Souris said.
It will take several weeks before Souris learns if he is a world record jump flipper.
Self taught in acrobatics, Souris said he wants to show children what can be achieved from staying fit and active.
"Maybe 10 years down the road it will be someone I trained breaking my record. That'll be the day," said Souris.
When not teaching, entertaining or attempting world records, Souris gets occasional gigs in films.
Recently he was Adam G. Sevani's stunt double for his character "Moose's" in the movie "Step Up Revolution," a movie about dancing set in Miami that's scheduled to be released later this month.
