City of Miami firefighters are used to rescuing people. Friday they rescued an iguana.

"One of the most unusual calls that we received," said Lt. Ignatius Carroll with Miami Fire Rescue.

The call came from a worker at Miami Seaquarium who had just finished a day at work. .

"As soon as he pulled out of the Seaquarium, he realized he had about a 3 and half to 4 foot iguana inside of his vehicle," said Lt. Carroll.

The reptile was inside the dashboard and the only thing visible was the tail. After driving about a half mile the man knew he had to pull over. Not knowing who to call, he dialed 911.

Miami firefighters responded and had to figure out how to get rid of the reptile.

After about 15 minutes of tail-pulling and trying to scare the scaly creature, they got the job done.

"The iguana had just a few scratches on it," Lt. Carroll said.

The scratches will heal while the lizard lives where he belongs, in the nearby brush.
