ST. MAARTEN - For some, the Caribbean island of St. Maarten is more than a vacation paradise.  It also holds a certain allure for thrill-seekers.

It involves standing behind passenger jets about to take off. One girl was captured on video unexpectedly going airborne herself.

The airport is located next to the island's Maho Beach, separated by only a two-lane road.

Despite warning signs, tourists cling to a fence as the jet engines rev up.

In the YouTube video, a teenage girl loses her grip and goes flying headfirst into a concrete wall.  She suffered a deep gash in her head.  Another teen reportedly wound up with a broken leg.
