A biologist was attempting to wrangle the 300 pound gator in North Carolina recently but the gator wasn't ready to leave his habitat in a residential area in Carteret County.

The 10-foot long reptile lashed out at the man - biting his arm - and sending him on a quick retreat.

More than 20 emergency responders were on the scene and they eventually captured the alligator, then released it back into the wild.

A fire official says the best thing to do when you spot an alligator in the wild is to leave it alone.

The biologist was treated at the hospital and released.
