Battling frizzy hair can be tough in South Florida's humidity.
Some treatments promise to smooth hair, but concerns over formaldehyde scare many women.
Now, there's a new treatment that's been invented by a local stylist that is eco friendly.
One Boca Raton salon is saying bye-bye to the chemical based blow outs, and hello to "Dosage."
Summer meant big hair for Michelle Tichner.
"It's horrible with my hair. My hair is very curly, very coarse, it gets a lot from the humidity. It gets extra frizzy and extra large."
Michelle went the route of the popular 'blow out,' but the formaldehyde in the ingredient list for the straightener was one of her concerns.
She says it made her hair too straight and the chemicals are very damaging.
Now, Michelle has a chemical free alternative to try called 'Dosage,' invented by local stylist Tom Thompson and used exclusively at Jody Jack Salon in Boca Raton.
He says, "there are silicones we've worked with and we've figured out and came up with the perfect balance to get to attach to the hair so it acts like a protective coating."
Thompson says, as a result hair stays strong, unlike the chemical based blow-outs that can leave your hair frizzy and thinner.
With Dosage your hair is actually healing itself.
Another difference is the 'Dosage' treatment is fast.
A few minutes to process, then rinse and styling and you have a smooth, new look.
It's been such a dose of good medicine for so many clients, this salon has gone totally green, starting with 'Dosage' blow outs.
Michelle says she is ready to step out in to the heat and humidity not worrying about battling the frizzies.
Not only do you not have to spend hours in the salon getting the straightener, the Dosage treatment is much cheaper than the formaldehyde based blow outs at 35 dollars compared to a 300 to 500 dollar price tag.
Dosage lasts four weeks, but with some take home products it can last even longer and your hair will dry and style faster.
It's only available at Jody Jack Salon in Boca Raton .
