Teachers are hired to enlighten and empower, but since 2006, dozens of teachers across Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie County have been fired for sexually engaging students.

In 2004, former Boynton Beach music teacher Carol Flannigan was arrested after admitting to having sex with a 5th grader.

"I've tried to fight my feelings for you," Flannigan said to the student during a recorded phone conversation just prior to her arrest.

The Contact 5 Investigators poured through years of substantiated cases of teachers sexually harassing students.

"It's wrong, bad, illegal behavior and we will prosecute to the fullest extent," said Nat Harrington, spokesperson for the Palm Beach County School District.

For the first time, see the love letters, read the dirty text messages and hear the disturbing phone conversations between teachers and students.

The Contact 5 Investigators reveal how often local sexual misconduct is found among teachers , why some educators are walking away with just a reprimand and learn how you can protect your child.

Real stories of South Florida teachers soliciting students, Monday at 11 p.m. on NewsChannel 5.
