UPDATE
Rennie is now under the care of a specialist that will continue to work her injuries and also monitor her to make sure her infections do not become life-threatening.
 
"The specialist says Rennie's leg and jaw fractures are complicated but repairable.

Infection is the biggest problem, and this is the one that could be fatal, she will now get intravenous antibiotics which we are unable to administer", said Eve with Paws2Help.
 
Paws2Help says they've raised almost $3,000 and that it is a big help to get started with.
 
A total cost of all the medical treatment is still undermined since medical work continues on "Rennie."

LOXAHATCHEE, FL -- A local woman is asking for dog lovers to rally around her beloved Shepherd mix, terribly injured by an alligator in Loxahatchee.

The sedated dog is awaiting lifesaving surgery *if* funds can be raised..

Despite a shattered jaw, broken legs and deep puncture wounds, there is hope for the 9 year old dog, who managed to get out of the jaws of the alligator that clamped down on him in the shallow water of a Loxahatchee canal.

"I love her she’s my best friend. I've had her since she was born."

Rennie's owner Lisa Shanks holds her other dog,’ Lover' close and confronts the terrible possibility the injuries are too severe for Rennie to survive....

"She was lying down, mauled, her legs broken" she says, choking back tears."

The veterinarians had to be blunt...

"Its gonna be rough, tough to make it through fighting off infections”, says Dr. Arthur Christopher.

The surgery to pin the leg fractures and rehab Rennie would cost at least 3000 dollars.

“If anyone can help, I want to save my dog," says the owner.
