FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Authorities in Broward County say no one was injured in a deputy involved shooting Sunday.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies say the incident started following a routine traffic stop at 2500 NW 9th Court.

A Central Broward deputy says he was conducting the stop when the suspect put his car in reverse, hit the BSO unit and fled displaying a weapon.

Deputies say the suspect went west on Sunrise Boulevard then south on 31st Avenue, where at NW 2nd Street, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a light post.

Investigators say the man got out of the car with his weapon in hand and that is when the deputy fired, but did not hit the suspect.

The man ran from the deputy and the suspect was apprehended.

Investigators say the suspect began to hyperventilate and was transported to Plantation General Hospital.

The Sheriff's Office received the call at 7:51 a.m.
