David A. Kappheim: Lake Park man arrested for threatening to kill his 'liberal' girlfriend, cops say

LAKE PARK, Fla. - David A. Kappheim, 60 of Lake Park was arrested after he allegedly told authorities he was going to kill his girlfriend because she was a “liberal.”  Kappheim was arrested Tuesday by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies. 

He was  placed under a Baker Act by the arresting deputy, according to the probable cause affidavit.  

Kappheim allegedly showed up on August 25th to the victim’s friend’s house naked, according to the probable cause affidavit.  The next day he allegedly “choked his live-in girlfriend, cutting her breath.”

Police say on Monday, August 27 ^th Kappheim threatened his live-in girlfriend stating, “kill her and burn her home.”

According to the arrest affidavit, on Tuesday Kappheim asked to borrow his girlfriend’s car so he can move some boxes.  She agreed and asked him to first  drive her to work.  On the way there Kappheim was upset and driving recklessly .  She told him she was afraid for her life and, “ he laughed out loud."

Kappheim told  a sheriff’s deputy, “he was very conservative, and his girlfriend was liberal and he felt he was going to have kill her," according to the arrest affidavit.

Kappheim faces charges of domestic battery, aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

Bond was denied for Kappheim on Thursday.
