INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. - Wednesday evening, phone calls from the Kaitlyn Hunt case were released by deputies at the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
Eighteen-year-old Hunt was arrested on a charge of "lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years old."
The phone calls are redacted, meaning they exclude the voice of the teenager Hunt was speaking to, so as not to identify her. The calls were also redacted to exclude any reference to the substance of a confession, if there was one. One recording is more than four minutes long, the other more than twenty-two minutes long.
"Should I even be doing this, should I even be talking to her? Or should I even waste my time waiting. I don't know anything because you don't tell me anything. We haven't talked so I have no idea what we are or what we're doing, so everything at this point is just like, whatever, so if you don't want anything, and it can't be anything, then I'm going to move on. Honestly. Because all of these other people that try talking to me and I turned them down because of you. I love you and I don't want to be with them," Hunt says on the tape.
Hunt says on the recording that she has never felt like this before.
"What I'm saying is that I've never been in love with anyone, but you, like this ever. I've never felt this way for anybody. I've never put myself in any of these positions for anybody. I don't know, I just, I'm in love with you and it's different. I just don't understand it any more than that," she said.
