Trainers tout Chia Pet seeds as super food

PLYMOUTH, Minn. - A famous gag gift is now considered a good-for-you food.

Chia Pet seeds are being touted as the new super food.

The seeds claim to provide fiber and can be a substitute for whole grains. Some trainers are even recommending the seeds to clients for their good food properties.

"It has a lot of protein in it. Also, the omega-3 content. So, healthy fats and oils are going to be consumed with that as well,” physical trainer Keri Anderson said

The tiny little seeds are sprouting up on shelves all cover the country. Chia seeds can be found at places like GNC and Whole Foods.
