Veteran NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell revealed Wednesday that she has breast cancer. She made the announcement on MSNBC.

She said it was discovered a short time ago during her annual screening. She added, it was in its earliest stage and she is back at work with a terrific prognosis.
Mitchell said she's looking at it as another of life's lessons. And to other women she said,
"Screening matters. Do it."
According to MSNBC, Mitchell did not say what kind of treatment she had undergone.
