HOBE SOUND, Fla. - A local hero has been laid to rest.
The South Florida National Cemetery near Lake Worth is the final resting place for Sergeant Justin Johnson. The Hobe Sound native was killed in Afghanistan last month.
Saturday, hundreds turned out for the funeral service at First United Methodist Church in Hobe Sound.
Fellow Staff Sergeant William Foster made a promise to always be there for the family, especially Sergeant Johnson's young son Justin Jr.
"Won't nobody replace your father. Nobody, but what I can tell you is that I will be there for you also," said a tearful Sergeant Foster speaking to the four year-old known to family members as June Bug.
Military officials presented Sergeant Johnson's family with the Bronze Star medal and the Purple Heart.
