Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today issued the following statement on the death of Osama bin Laden:

“The death of Osama bin Laden sends a message that the United States will not rest until justice is served to those who do us harm or wish to do us harm. We are all grateful to those in uniform and in the intelligence community who never wavered in their pursuit and whose service led us to this moment, especially to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Today will go down in American history as a great day in the fight against terror.”

Congressman Rooney serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. As a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, Rooney was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas on September 11, 2001. Congressman Rooney returned last week from a Congressional delegation to Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
