BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A 10-year-old boy died after a flight display board fell on top of him and several others.
The Birmingham Airport Authority says Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
The sign fell in the upper level pre-security area near door 1, on the Northeast side of the terminal, according to Birmingham Airport Authority Spokesperson Toni Herrera-Bast.
Herrera-Bast said the Airport Authority and a construction team are taking precautions to prevent future incidents. The flight display board was removed, she said.
