WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A judge set bond at $25,000 for 19-year-old Adam A. Bardisa at his first appearance in court Tuesday. Bardisa received $20,000 for the charge of strong arm robbery, and $5,000 for the charge of aggravated assault against a person over the age of 65.
The judge told Bardisa that he cannot contact his victims and that he needs treatment for a drug problem.
The day of the crime, April 12, 2012, a Probable Cause Affidavit describes that a person matching Bardisa's description rode his razor scooter into a Publix Supermarket behind the two victims.
The report says the 84-and 96-year-old victims were followed to a bus stop nearby, where the man grabbed one woman's purse and knocked over both women, one who was in a wheelchair, before he ran. The report states that one of the women suffered two broken ribs.
The Probable Cause Affidavit says Bardisa's father called Crime Stoppers to report that he had seen surveillance photos on the news and identified the suspect as his son. Both of Bardisa's parents told investigators they have taken their son to rehabilitation programs multiple times.
Bardisa has a criminal history, including arrests for illegal drug possession and violation of probation.
