Art Johnson on his way out

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Art Johnson was told he had until Monday to accept a deal or be fired. 

Johnson must agree by the end of the day Monday to accept $428,000 and leave the district never to return.

He must also promise not to take any legal action against the board or district, an important concession given that Johnson sued in 1997 after first agreeing to retire from a previous district position. He claimed then that he'd been illegally pushed out of his job.

NewsChannel Five spoke to Art Johnson this morning. He said, "It would be premature to speak on anything at this time."
