WEST PALM BEACH, FL-- The trial for an accused local child molester is expected to get underway this morning.
The alleged incident happened two years ago, and the victim's mother says they've waited long enough for justice in the case.
19-year-old Jeremias Barrios is accused of raping a 7-year-old child during the summer of 2008.
Barrios is being tried on sexual battery and molestation.
The victim is now 9-years-old, and although Barrios has been in jail for the past two years, the victim's mother, Robin Pierc says the fact that Barrios hasn't been convicted yet, is unsettling.
At first Barrios denied doing anything to the little girl, but later told police that the 7-year-old victim insisted and forced him.
Pierc says it's unacceptable for a child to wait so long for justice, and says she feels unprotected by the system.
The victims mother says the case keeps getting shuffled around, which makes her worry that Barrios will get off easy.
The trial begins this morning at the Palm Beach County Courthouse, and hopefully will bring this mother and daughter the closure they're searching for.
