STUART — Credit cards from a purse stolen in Stuart were used at drug stores in Vero Beach, and police are seeking public help in identifying who took the cards.

The cards were used March 29 at a Walgreens and CVS in Vero Beach just before the cards were canceled, said Stuart Police Sgt. Martin Jacobson. To help with the identification, police are distributing images of a person from store surveillance cameras.

Anyone with information could call Stuart Detective Heather Buchanan at (772) 220-3924 or the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at (800) 273-TIPS (8477).

The purse was taken from a store clerk in the Amber Waves Trading Company in Stuart. A group of six people came into the store — apparently to create a distraction as the purse was taken, Jacobson said.
