PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Justin Riney started his journey on January 1st. He embarked on a trip around the entire state of Florida on a paddleboard, and so far he has spent 138 days on the water.
His purpose: to bring awareness to the state's waters on the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon's arrival.
The Vero Beach resident's journey has been chronicled in Treasure Coast Newspapers . Additional events are planned along the Treasure Coast.
On Monday, a kayak and paddleboard reception has been planned for Riney. Coming from Broward County, he will travel the intracoastal waterway into Palm Beach County. A two-hour cleanup on Lake Wyman in Boca Raton at 4p.m. is scheduled to support Riney's mission to promote conservation consciousness.
