GAINESVILLE, FL (AP) — Former University of Florida football player Wondy Pierre-Louis has turned himself in to authorities on a warrant charging him with burglary, kidnapping and domestic battery.

Jail officials say Pierre-Louis turned himself in at the Alachua County jail early Tuesday morning. Jail records did not list a lawyer for him.

The Gainesville Sun reported that Pierre Louis was accused of pinning a girlfriend or former girlfriend against a countertop and choking her. Police said he threatened her, but she was able to get away and call for help.

Pierre-Louis was a cornerback on the football team who recently completed his senior season. He has not graduated.

He is a native of Haiti. His parents survived last week's earthquake, but their family home was destroyed.
