NEW YORK, N.Y. - Thousands have visited the 9/11 memorial in New York City in the days since the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Among those visitors was a 9/11 survivor who now lives in West Palm Beach .
Michelle Rosado has not been to that site in lower Manhattan for more than a decade. She was working in the World Trade Center at the time of the attacks and made it out just in time. And until now, she was not prepared to go back there.
"There had to be a moment of peace that I'd be able to succumb to, especially when I started seeing the names of my friends," she said.
Rosado was on the 95th floor of Tower 2. The windows of her office shattered when the first plane hit Tower one.
"I've been grieving for the past 10 years, but until now, I really had not had the chance to really grieve over so many of my friends all at once. And that's exactly what I needed to do today," she said.
She's became an author and motivational speaker in 2001, and since then, has helped others overcome their biggest fears. Now she believes she has overcome one of her own.
"It's finally time for me to move on and to really understand that life is so precious," she said.
While in New York this week, Rosado delivered a photograph of the twin towers that she took just days before the attacks. That photo will be displayed in the 9/11 memorial museum along with an audio recording of Rosado recounting that day.
