BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A 2-year-old girl is in critical condition at Bethesda Hospital after she nearly drowned in the family pool Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the home located in the 600 block of Southwest 4th Avenue around 1:00 p.m. According to police, the girl's 6-year-old sister found her in the pool.
The toddler, her sister, and their 9-year-old brother were watching TV while their mother was cooking. The toddler walked to the backyard through an unlocked door and gained access to the pool through a broken fence, according to police.
The toddler was found face down in the pool. Her mother jumped in the pool, pulled her out and began CPR. It is believed she was in the water at least five minutes.
Police are not releasing names at this time.
